COVID-19 3D Printed PPE Task Force

Key Skills: 3D Printing, Fabrication, Teamwork

In my freshman and sophomore years of high school I volunteered with a school-wide task force working to supply local healthcare facilities with much-needed PPE. I was one of three members on a 3D printing team using our personal printers to produce open-source, 3D printed face shields.

Coordinating with our faculty leader, a computer science teacher at the school, I volunteered from spring to fall of 2020 printing and assembling face shields. At the conclusion of the program, we distributed 400 face shields to over 20 hospitals, health clinics, senior living facilities, and other healthcare facilities throughout New Jersey.

During this period I was able to contribute over 150 assembled face shields and was awarded a silver service award by my school for hours worked.
